The Dream Weaver

Creatura Book Review

Isn't this cover amazing?

Author: Nely Cab

Pages: 291

Publication Date: August 5, 2013

Synopsis:

Isis can control her dreams. Or she could—until recently. The creature in her nightmares has been haunting her for months. As if being dumped wasn’t bad enough, now she dreads going to sleep. She decides to confront the creature and win back some of her peace; only, she finds that he’s not a monster and he’s not a dream.

A sacrifice for love, a shocking discovery and a jealous ex-boyfriend blur the lines between reality and dreams, making it hard to tell who the real monsters are.
Who would’ve known…that sometimes love is lethal?

Creatura is a very unique book. I loved the imaginative theme that existed here, with a different take on Gods. Nely Cab wove a tale of complete magic in this YA Paranormal Romance. Kudos to Ms. Cab on her choice of a cover, because that was originally what caught my eye. Captivating is probably the right way to describe the cover of Creatura.

The characters were extremely interesting. Although The Chios family was way more complex then the Martin family and their friends, they are after all Gods, even though they are different they all fit nicely together. Each character brings different strengths and weaknesses that benefit the story greatly.

In this story Creaturas are abominations. They are half god-half human beings who preyed on humans and caused the humans to despise gods. They were known to be savages and there was no telling if the Creaturas would remain civilized when they came to age.

David Chios is a god, but falls for Isis Martin when she somehow accessed the realm of Terra Somnium where David is her Dream Weaver. Humans aren’t supposed to be in that realm because they shouldn’t be able to control their dreams. At first Isis is terrified of him, to the point where she becomes an insomniac. While taking the medications the doctor provided she actually sleeps and decides to conquer her fear.

David becomes infatuated with her because she is so different. When she tells him to prove he is real, he agrees right before she wakes up. The next day at school there is a new student. He corners Isis and tells her it is him. So naturally she is afraid. After lots of patience and they become friends. But it is obvious David wants more than friendship with Isis. Isis eventually realizes that not only is she attracted to David, but that she is in love with him. But it is a forbidden love, one that can cost David his life if they are caught.

Do David and Isis take that chance? Pick up a copy of Creatura today and find out. It was really a great read with mythology and magic woven in. You won’t be disappointed!
