Faelorehn Book Review

Buy on Amazon!
Title: Faelorehn
Author: Jenna Elizabeth Johnson
Series: Otherworld Trilogy

Synopsis:
I never heard him come after me and even as I climbed the slope and stumbled onto our shaded back lawn, I didn’t look back. It was like the day the gnomes chased me all over again, but this time I was not escaping some horrible little creatures, I was fleeing from an incredibly good-looking guy who could very well understand me completely. I was either saving myself from that serial killer I always imagined lived down in the swamp, or I had finally gone over the deep end . . .

Meghan Elam has been strange her entire life: her eyes have this odd habit of changing color and she sees and hears things no one else does. When the visions and voices in her head start to get worse, she is convinced that her parents will want to drag her off to another psychiatrist. That is, until the mysterious Cade MacRoich shows up out of nowhere with an explanation of his own.

Cade brings her news of another realm where goblins and gnomes are the norm, a place where whispering spirits exist in the very earth, and a world where Meghan just might find the answers she has always sought.

Review:
What an imaginative, beautifully written book! I have officially fell in love with the Otherworld Trilogy and I will be reading and reviewing the other books as well. I am always on the look out for unique books and this one fits that bill. I love my paranormal romance and YA books, but at this time those a genres that are dominated by Greek mythology right now. Not that I don't love it but sometimes it can get a little like deja vu.  But Faelorehn uses Celtic mythology. Be still my heart!

Faelorehn was creative, imaginative, beautiful, and unique. The characters were great, the story was captivating, and the pace was good for a book like this. The settings and descriptions were written in such great detail leading to rich surroundings that make you feel as if you are there.

Now, I made it a point to read a few of the other reviews on Amazon just like I do with any book I read. I really don't understand what some people wrote. This is the beginning of a trilogy and as such you are going to get tons of background information, it is NORMAL! As the beginning of trilogies go: this book is pretty good! Ok, now that my short little rant is over I can really get into the book :)

Meghan is a typical teen who doesn't really fit in anywhere. She is different, she feels it. To make matters worse she sees and hears things that no one else does. However, I really hated to read how much she was picked on. Kids can be cruel and teenagers are even worse. Makes it hard to fit in, especially when no one else believes you. I found her character to be well written and engaging. I would have liked her to find out how different she was a little bit earlier but I think it added to the book in the same aspect.

Cade was great too! But his mysteriousness and lack of sharing information was a bit too much for me. At times he came off the wrong way I think. But his ability to save Meghan knocked up my opinion of him a notch or two.

I honestly can not wait to read the next books! They are going to be great! So long story short, this book may not be up everyone's alley but it was right up mine.

I received a copy through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!
